Colombo: Sri Lanka's Women's T20 World Cup squad has undergone a change following the injury of spinner Shashini Gimhani, who has been ruled out due to a lower-back issue. Gimhani, who has played in seven T20 internationals, has taken six wickets with an average of 21.16 and an economy rate of 7.05.
According to International Cricket Council, Chethana Vimukthi has been selected to replace Gimhani. Vimukthi, a right-arm seamer, is new to T20 internationals but has previously appeared in three One Day Internationals for Sri Lanka. The updated squad includes Chamari Athapaththu as captain, alongside players such as Hasini Perera and Vishmi Gunarathne.
Sri Lanka is set to compete in two warm-up matches against Pakistan and the Netherlands on June 6 and 9, before opening the ICC Women's T20 World Cup against England on June 12 at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
