Punjab University ICET Hosts Meeting to Revise Curriculum and Launch New Programs

LAHORE: Punjab University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (ICET) convened an Industrial Advisory Board Meeting aimed at revising the curriculum and developing new programs. The meeting brought together academic and industry leaders to discuss updates and expansions in educational offerings to align with industry standards.

According to University of the Punjab, the gathering was attended by key figures including Director ICET Prof Dr Syed Nadir Hussain, President Sudar Industrial Association Engr. Syed Maaz Mehmood, and several other industry experts. Prof Dr Hussain outlined changes to the BSc Chemical Engineering curriculum and the introduction of new programs such as BSc Chemical Engineering with a specialization in Petroleum and Gas, MS Process Safety and Management, and BSc Food Engineering.

During the meeting, Prof Dr Hussain highlighted the establishment of new labs and infrastructure improvements at ICET, including a 30 KW solar system and upgraded library facilities, achieved with the support of ICET Alumni. The revisions and new programs are set to commence from the 2027 intake and aim to enhance education quality and align faculty development with international standards.

Industry experts at the meeting commended the curriculum revisions and the introduction of new programs, noting their alignment with emerging industrial needs and international academic benchmarks. They emphasized the importance of integrating contemporary knowledge and practical skills into the curriculum to boost the employability and global competitiveness of ICET graduates. The board members also provided suggestions for incorporating emerging technologies and industry trends into future curriculum enhancements.
