PTI Criticizes Sindh Government Over Rising Karo-Kari Incidents

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Karachi General Secretary Arsalan Khalid has voiced significant concerns over the increasing incidents of honor killings, known as Karo-Kari, in Sindh, highlighting what he describes as the ineffective response of the provincial government. According to a statement from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's Media Cell, Khalid questioned the Sindh government on its handling of these cases and demanded answers regarding the continued loss of innocent lives under the guise of outdated customs. He criticized the lack of formal reports by the government and accused them of protecting perpetrators by failing to address these crimes effectively.

Khalid further criticized the role of the Sindh Assembly, alleging that it focuses more on personal interests and the politics of feudal lords rather than on public issues. He urged the ruling party to prioritize public concerns over maintaining their positions of power. Khalid condemned the current legal and judicial systems, describing them as weak and ineffective against the crime of Karo-Kari, where those responsible remain unpunished. He called for immediate judicial inquiries into all Karo-Kari cases and demanded comprehensive public reports to eradicate these practices.
