LAHORE: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore's 501st Syndicate meeting, chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, has approved an annual budget of Rs. 8.240 billion for the financial year 2026-27. The meeting, held on July 25, 2026, also sanctioned salary and pension increases, along with various development grants aimed at enhancing academic and administrative operations.

According to University of Engineering and Technology's press release, the meeting involved key stakeholders, including representatives from the Higher Education Commission, Higher Education Department, and Finance Department of the Government of Punjab. It concluded with the approval of financial benefits for employees, including ad-hoc relief allowances and pensions, effective from July 1, 2024, and revised pay scales from July 1, 2026.

Additional allocations were made for infrastructure and welfare, with increased budgets for maintaining hostels and academic buildings. Funds were also designated for chronic disease medicines, lab upgrades, need-based scholarships, IT equipment, machinery, and furniture. The Research Commercialization Fund received Rs. 10 million to engage in the SBIR-Punjab Pilot Trust, and support was extended to the Faculty Recognition Policy.

The Syndicate approved new appointments and promotions, appointing 22 Assistant Professors, 18 Lecturers, and several officers, enhancing faculty strength in computing and other programs. Contract extensions were granted to 20 faculty members and officers based on performance reviews.

Disciplinary actions were reviewed under the PEEDA Act 2006, resulting in decisions on 11 employee cases and show-cause notices for 8 employees. The UET Strategic Plan 2026-2030 received formal approval, and provisional affiliations were extended to six affiliated colleges.
