KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Karachi General Secretary Arslan Khalid has issued a strong critique of both federal and provincial governments following a report released by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), which details the country’s economic challenges. According to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Khalid accused the current administration of creating an economic quagmire, highlighting that the HRCP report contradicts government claims of economic progress. Khalid argued that the report reveals the reality of the situation, as evidenced by statistical data, and condemned what he described as misleading narratives of economic success.

Khalid specifically referenced 34 suicides attributed to poverty in the first quarter of the year, describing these tragedies as "economic murders" perpetrated by an inept government. He noted that the economic distress is particularly severe in Karachi, and that the crisis has escalated into a significant humanitarian issue. Khalid expressed concern over the increasing shadows of poverty and unemployment in Sindh and Punjab, insisting that media and public relations efforts cannot substitute genuine economic relief. He warned that as long as the current power structure remains unchanged, the socio-economic divide will persist, with the affluent thriving at the expense of the less fortunate. Khalid assured that PTI would continue to voice its opposition to the ongoing economic challenges faced by the public.
