LAHORE: Pakistan’s natural resources hold significant potential for boosting the nation’s economy, according to Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali. Speaking at the 19th National Hands-on Training Workshop, “Skills for the Future – Integrating Modern Beekeeping into Productive Agriculture,” organized by Punjab University’s Institute of Zoology, Dr. Ali emphasized the economic benefits of enhancing collaboration between the university and beekeepers to increase exports of bee-related products.
According to University of the Punjab, the workshop, attended by students, researchers, and faculty members from across Pakistan, aims to equip participants with future-oriented skills and promote entrepreneurship. Prof Dr Nabila Roohi, Director of the Institute of Zoology, highlighted the workshop’s importance for students at various academic levels, while senior journalist Sohail Warraich praised the initiative for advancing community involvement and awareness in beekeeping. Prof Dr Abdul Majid Khan noted the workshop’s long-standing impact since 2004, transforming numerous participants into skilled beekeepers and entrepreneurs through a combination of scientific knowledge and practical training.
