International Islamic University Islamabad’s BASR Convenes First 2026 Meeting

Islamabad: The Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASR) at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) held its inaugural meeting for 2026, chaired by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, Vice President of Research and Enterprise. The gathering addressed a series of academic and research-related matters, marking the University's ongoing dedication to maintaining high academic standards and transparent governance.

According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the meeting's agenda included the confirmation of previous minutes, academic reporting, and the consideration of research proposals from multiple faculties. A significant component of the meeting was the presentation of the BASR's annual report for 2025, highlighting the processing of 419 agenda items over twelve meetings. This included 293 PhD synopses and 126 reporting items, underscoring continuous academic activity and a robust research culture at IIUI.

The report also detailed the activities of the Standing Committee for Time Barred Cases (STBC), which reviewed 29 cases across five meetings in 2025. This effort demonstrates the University's commitment to facilitating academic advancement for time-barred scholars. Additionally, the Board was informed of 67 new PhD synopsis agenda items awaiting review in upcoming meetings.

The meeting further evaluated numerous PhD research proposals from various faculties, including Management Sciences, Usuluddin (Islamic Studies), Languages and Literature, Engineering and Technology, Sciences, and Computing and Engineering Technology. This reflects IIUI's expanding postgraduate research landscape. The BASR reaffirmed its pivotal role in enhancing research standards and supporting scholars through structured review processes.
