Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi Hosts Condolence Reference for Late Theatre Icons

Karachi: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi organized a condolence reference at Gulrang Hall in memory of distinguished theatre writers and directors, Kunwar Khurshid Ahmed and Khadim Hussain Uchvi. The event was attended by President Arts Council Muhammad Ahmed Shah as the chief guest, with Nauman Khan serving as the moderator. Prominent figures from the theatre community, including actors Shehzad Raza Naqvi, Iqbal Latif, and Zeba Shehnaz, shared their reflections on the lives and contributions of the two late artists.

According to Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, the reference commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran and Naat. President Muhammad Ahmed Shah emphasized the familial bond within the Arts Council, acknowledging the sorrowful occasion and the significant impact that Ahmed and Uchvi had on both local and international stages. Shah urged attendees to maintain positive human behavior and cherish their relationships, highlighting the artists' enduring legacy through their dedication and morals.

Renowned actor Shakeel Siddiqui recalled working alongside the late directors during challenging times in Karachi, commending Ahmed Shah for strengthening the Arts Council as a platform for artists. Senior actress Zeba Shehnaz expressed her gratitude to Ahmed Shah for his efforts in keeping the memory of theatre artists alive and reflected on her early theatre experiences with Kunwar Khurshid. Actor Rauf Lala praised Ahmed and Uchvi's commitment to their craft, noting Uchvi's passion and dedication.

The event also featured insights from actors Nazar Hussain, Shehzad Raza Naqvi, and Iqbal Latif, who shared anecdotes of their collaborations with the late directors, emphasizing their dedication and the lasting impact of their work. Saadat Jafri led a prayer for the forgiveness of the departed, and Salomi Aziz contributed her thoughts via a mobile link, underscoring the wide-reaching influence of Ahmed and Uchvi within the theatre community.
