Heritage Buildings Come Alive in Watercolor at Karachi Arts Exhibition

Karachi: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi hosted an art exhibition by the renowned artist Hamir Soomro, featuring watercolors that capture the heritage of Karachi. Titled "Celebrating the Heritage of Karachi Volume 3," the event took place at the Ahmed Pervez Art Gallery and was inaugurated by the Arts Council President, Muhammad Ahmed Shah, alongside Hamir Soomro.

The exhibition drew notable attendees, including the Consul General of Japan, HATTORI Masaru, and the Consul General of Italy, Fabrizio Bielli. Director General MOFA Irfan Somroo and Chairman Fine Arts Committee Farrukh Tanveer Shahab were also present, along with many figures from the fine arts community. Visitors were captivated by 71 watercolour artworks depicting Karachi's historic buildings, such as Flagstaff House and St. Patrick's Church.

President Muhammad Ahmed Shah expressed gratitude to the artists and media, praising Hamir Soomro for his ability to capture the essence of Karachi's heritage without commercializing his art. Hamir Soomro shared that the disappearance of historic buildings motivated him to immortalize them in his work, urging the community to appreciate and preserve the city's architectural legacy.

Soomro remarked on the city's potential, noting that with proper awareness and stewardship, Karachi could enhance its beauty and cultural significance.
