Hyderabad: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, alongside the Department of Culture, Government of Sindh, successfully concluded the 13-day “Hyderabad Theatre Festival 2025.” Hosted at the Sindh Museum’s Mumtaz Mirza Auditorium, the festival attracted large audiences from September 26 to October 8, featuring an array of Urdu and Sindhi plays.
The festival showcased 12 plays with themes ranging from comedy to social commentary, involving over 130 artists whose performances captivated attendees. The event was celebrated by theatre enthusiasts from across the region.
The closing ceremony featured Muhammad Ahmed Shah, President of the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, as the chief guest. Distinguished attendees included Commissioner Hyderabad Fayaz Hussain Abbasi, Dr. Ayub Shaikh, Chairman of the Lok Virsa Committee, and Amjad Hussain Shah, Chairman of the Music Committee, among others.
In his address, Ahmed Shah emphasized the importance of cultural events in fostering peace and empathy, hinting at future initiatives such as a literary conference in Hyderabad and collaborations with international artists. He expressed the need for continued cultural activities to change perceptions and promote unity.
Commissioner Abbasi lauded the festival for its unique atmosphere and urged the continuation of such cultural initiatives. He noted the role of artists in bringing joy and highlighted the theatre stage as a training ground for future global talent.
Amjad Hussain Shah praised the festival’s success, attributing it to Ahmed Shah’s leadership and the dedication of the artists involved. Dr. Ayub Shaikh and Chief Organizer Rafiq Esani also commended the festival’s role in promoting cultural harmony and unity among diverse communities.
The festival’s lineup included notable productions such as “Hosho,” “Zindagi Ke Rang Hazar,” and “Tujh Pe Qurban Meri Jaan,” among others, directed by various talented individuals.
The event concluded with Ahmed Shah presenting commemorative shields to the participating directors, acknowledging their significant contributions to the festival’s success.
