Bilawal Condemns India’s “Historic Assault” On Indus River At Bhit Shah Urs

Islamabad: Bhit Shah / Matiari / Hyderabad / Karachi, August 11: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, speaking at the closing ceremony of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai’s annual Urs, denounced India’s actions regarding the Indus Waters Treaty as a “historic assault” on Pakistan. He asserted that this constitutes the most significant attack on the river in the region’s chronicle and declared that not only Pakistanis but also many Indians oppose this move.

Zardari emphasized the cultural and historical significance of the Indus River, linking it to the Indus Valley Civilization and highlighting its importance as the nation’s primary water source. He stated that an attack on the Indus is an attack on Pakistan’s heritage and traditions.

The PPP leader recounted his global diplomatic endeavors to present Pakistan’s position on the Indus River issue, including discussions with the United States and European nations. He declared that he had successfully exposed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stance to the international community.

Zardari called for national unity and public support to counter India’s actions, emphasizing the need for a collective response to this perceived injustice. He warned that if provoked into conflict, Pakistan would not hesitate to defend its interests.

Recalling a recent conflict between Pakistan and India, Zardari commended the nation’s unified response, praising the armed forces and the public’s solidarity. He attributed the resolution of the conflict not to the instigator but to the collective strength of Pakistan.

The PPP chairman reiterated the importance of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai’s teachings, highlighting their enduring relevance in navigating contemporary challenges. He noted his family’s tradition of visiting the shrine, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, mother, and father.
