Karachi: Dr. Abdul Mueed Khan, an alumnus of the Institute of Business Management and the Asia Cluster Medical Lead at Sandoz Regional Hub in Malaysia, returned to his alma mater as a guest speaker, offering students a glimpse into the pharmaceutical industry. Dr. Khan, who completed his MBA in Health and Hospital Management from IoBM in 2012, was part of an event organized by IoBM’s Alumni Office and the College of Business Management.
The session, attended by faculty members and students, including Dr. Shagufta Rafiq, Associate Dean of CBM; Dr. Aliya Sikander, Head of the Department of Communication and Languages; and Ms. Kishwer Nazli, focused on career opportunities in the pharmaceutical sector.
Dr. Khan’s talk offered insights into the various career paths within the industry, emphasizing its significant global value of over USD 1.5 trillion. He noted the industry’s role in disease treatment and highlighted the rapid development of COVID-19 vaccines as a testament to its impact.
During the session, Dr. Khan outlined several career paths available in the pharmaceutical sector, such as research and development, manufacturing and quality control, regulatory and medical affairs, sales and marketing, and supply chain and logistics.
He stressed the importance of continuous learning, credibility building, and problem-solving skills to thrive in the industry. The session included an interactive Q&A segment, where students engaged with Dr. Khan on career growth and emerging trends in life sciences.
