Pakistan Shaheens’ England Tour Yields Promising Talent, Says Head Coach

Kent: Pakistan Shaheens concluded their 15-day England tour with a series of promising performances, according to head coach Imran Farhat. The tour, which ran until August 5, featured both white and red-ball series, marking a successful stint for the team led by Saud Shakeel.

The Shaheens clinched victory in the three-match one-day series against the Professional County Club Select XI, winning 2-1. The series, held from July 22 to 27, saw crucial contributions from Azan Awais, who emerged as the top run-scorer with 164 runs, including two half-centuries. Ubaid Shah stood out in the bowling department, taking six wickets.

The tour also included two three-day matches. The first match, held from July 29 to 31, and the second, against the South Asian Cricket Academy and MCC Young Cricketers from August 3 to 5, both ended in draws. Shamyl Hussain led the batting in these longer formats with 151 runs across four innings. Notably, Ali Zaryab and Rohail Nazir hit centuries in the second match.

Head coach Imran Farhat expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance during an exclusive discussion with PCB Digital. He highlighted the identification of promising young players and praised the team’s bowling and fielding efforts during the one-day series. Farhat emphasized the strategic rotation policy that allowed every player to gain match experience.

He noted improvements in the top order’s performance in red-ball matches and stressed the importance of continuing to develop these players for future international cricket. Farhat also underscored the significance of assessing players’ adaptability to English conditions, which will be crucial for the Pakistan national team’s upcoming tour.

Farhat concluded by stating that each player will return with a tailored development plan focused on enhancing technical, tactical, and professional skills to prepare them for the international stage.
