University of Chitral Marks Youm-e-Istehsal in Support of Kashmiri Cause

Chitral: The University of Chitral observed Youm-e-Istehsal on August 5, 2025, under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Hazir Ullah, demonstrating support for the people of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The event, marked by the university’s administration, faculty, and students, focused on condemning India’s occupation and expressing solidarity with Kashmiris.

The university displayed various banners and placards carrying messages of condemnation against India and support for the Kashmiri cause. The event underscored that the struggle of the Kashmiri people aligns with international laws and UN Security Council resolutions, highlighting the occupation as a breach of international standards.

Dr. Sajjad Hussain, Head of the Department of Political Science, served as the focal person for the event. He provided insights into the political and cultural implications of the abrogation of Article 370 and 35(a), emphasizing the significance of the day’s observance.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sana Ullah, Head of the Department of Sociology, and Mr. Basharat Hussain, a lecturer in the Department of Political Science, stressed the importance of supporting the Kashmiris’ fight for justice and dignity.

A solidarity walk took place on campus, with students participating actively, chanting slogans advocating for Kashmir and denouncing human rights violations. The event concluded with a one-minute silence in remembrance of the sacrifices made by the Kashmiri people.

The University of Chitral reiterated its dedication to advocating for the rights of Kashmiris and pledged to persist in supporting their struggle for self-determination.
