Karachi: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi recently hosted a Majlis-e-Marsiya and Niyaz-e-Imam Hussain (RA) at the Jaun Elia Lawn, exclusively for its members and their families. The gathering featured poignant recitations of marsiya by several distinguished poets.

The event included recitations by poets such as Kashif Ghair, Tauqeer Taqi, Dr. Nadeem Naqvi, and Riaz Meerthi, among others. Shakeel Jafri moderated the majlis, providing a platform for the heartfelt expressions of the poets.

The Niyaz-e-Imam Hussain (RA) gathering saw attendance from notable figures in politics, media, and arts, such as political leader Waqar Mehdi and Arts Council Vice President Munawar Saeed. Other attendees included prominent individuals like President of the Karachi Press Club Fazil Jamili and veteran stage actor Zakir Mastana.

Muhammad Ahmed Shah, President of the Arts Council, extended gratitude to the members and their families, acknowledging their participation and dedication to the cause of remembrance.

Speaking to the media, Waqar Mehdi praised the Arts Council’s leadership and remarked on its growing recognition. He emphasized the inclusive nature of the Council under Ahmed Shah, who fosters a welcoming environment for all, regardless of background.
