KARACHI: The Aga Khan University’s (AKU) digital immunization solution, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Electronic Immunization Registry (KP-EIR), has been honored with a Merit award at the Spring 2025 Digital Health Awards®. This recognition highlights the registry’s role in enhancing public health infrastructure through the use of innovative digital technology.
The KP-EIR, derived from AKU’s Hayat platform, was developed in response to a request from the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. It has significantly improved the region’s Expanded Programme on Immunization by streamlining data management and accessibility. This advancement in digital health has bolstered vaccination efforts across the province.
The Spring 2025 Digital Health Awards® saw participation from over 600 entities worldwide across 65 categories. A panel of 68 digital health media experts evaluated these entries, focusing on innovation and impact.
Dr. Saleem Sayani, Director of AKU Digital Health Resource Center, expressed pride in receiving the award, emphasizing the university’s commitment to using technology for public health improvement. He noted that the KP-EIR’s success demonstrates the adaptability and scalability of AKU’s digital solutions in strengthening health systems and community health.
This accolade further affirms AKU’s focus on developing practical digital health interventions to tackle critical health issues and enhance healthcare delivery globally.
