Legislative Theater Shines Light on Begging Mafia’s Impact


Lahore: A legislative theater titled “Bila Unwaan 4” was hosted by the Faculty of Law in partnership with the UCP Dramatics Club, focusing on the pressing issue of begging. The performance aimed to uncover the clandestine operations of the begging mafia and its adverse effects on the justice system.



The event included an impactful panel discussion led by Justice (R) Khalid Mehmood, the Former Chief Justice of Lahore High Court. Panelists contributing to the discussion were Ms. Neelum, a draftsman; Ms. Rubi Ahmad, a representative from an NGO; Mr. Ahmad Pansota, a barrister; and Ms. Rushda Lodhi, a parliamentarian from the Provincial Assembly of Punjab.



The session sparked an engaging dialogue among legal experts, social workers, and human rights activists. The discussions delved into the legal, ethical, and societal issues highlighted by the theater performance. The event provided a platform for exploring the multifaceted implications of begging, urging participants to contemplate potential solutions to this complex social problem.
