Sins and Their Impact on Sustenance and Lifespan: Insights from Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri

Lahore: The Chairman of the Supreme Council of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, asserted at an intellectual session that engaging in sinful behavior can lead to a reduction in both sustenance and lifespan. He emphasized that righteous deeds bring about an increase in sustenance, knowledge, and honor, along with peace of heart. According to Dr. Hassan, those who live in obedience to Allah receive His mercy and blessings, while those who persist in sin and ingratitude are deprived of worldly and spiritual benefits.

Highlighting the teachings of Islam, Dr. Hassan referred to a hadith narrated by Hazrat Abu Huraira (RA). The hadith conveyed that Allah rewards His obedient servants with rain at night, sunlight during the day, and protection from thunder. Dr. Hassan explained that rain symbolizes Allah’s blessing, enabling people to seek sustenance and allowing crops to flourish.

Dr. Hassan also mentioned a hadith from Sunan Ibn Majah, narrated by Hazrat Thawban (RA), where Allah instructs believers to obey Him and follow His commands. He noted that good deeds have the potential to extend one’s lifespan and that supplication can influence destiny.

He further warned that sins could lead to a loss of sustenance, memory, and even knowledge. Quoting Imam Shafi’i (RA), Dr. Hassan advised individuals experiencing memory difficulties to reflect on their actions and avoid sins. He reiterated Imam Shafi’i’s teaching that knowledge, seen as a divine light, is not granted to those who sin.

Concluding his address, Dr. Hassan urged attendees to live in obedience to Allah, refrain from sinning, engage in righteous actions, and incorporate supplication into their daily lives.
