Punjab Council of Arts Commemorates Labor Day with Solidarity Walk and Seminar

Rawalpindi: On the directive of Executive Director Muhammad Tanvir Majid, the Punjab Council of the Arts in Rawalpindi observed International Labor Day, recognizing the significant contributions of the labor community. The event commenced with a solidarity walk from Cricket Stadium Road to the Cultural Complex, spearheaded by Sajjad Hussain, Director of the Arts Council, along with labor union leaders.

A diverse group of participants, including laborers, students, civil society members, and artists, joined the walk, demonstrating unity and support for the working class. The walk was followed by a seminar held at the Council auditorium, featuring prominent figures such as Senator Nasir Butt, MPA Tahira Mushtaq, and leaders from the PMLN, including Sajjad Khan, Arslan Sheikh, Khalid Saeed Butt, and Sheikh Tanvir, alongside trade union representatives.

Speakers at the seminar underscored the labor force as a cornerstone of national progress, stressing the importance of safeguarding their rights and welfare. The event included tributes to the labor community’s sacrifices and relentless efforts in nation-building.

Senator Nasir Butt remarked that Labor Day serves as both a commemoration and a call to action to improve working conditions and respect for all workers. Sajjad Hussain, Director of the Arts Council, affirmed the Council’s dedication to fostering social awareness through arts and culture.

The observance reflected a collective commitment to valuing and uplifting the labor community, aligning with the broader goals of social equity and justice.
