Karachi: The National Trade Union Federation (NTUF) Pakistan has announced a consultation meeting focused on addressing the challenges and prospects of unionization within the country’s textile and garment industries. The assembly aims to dissect labor rights issues, review relevant legal frameworks, and discuss international conventions and protocols to enhance unionization efforts across supply chains.

According to a statement by Home-Based Women Workers Federation, the meeting is scheduled for Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 4:30 PM and will be held at the NTUF Office located in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi. The event will serve as a platform to explore the provincial and federal laws impacting labor rights and union activities in the textile sector.

The NTUF has urged media outlets to assign a reporter and cameraperson to cover the event, emphasizing the importance of media coverage in highlighting workers’ narratives.
