Islamabad: In a recent interview with CCTV during his visit to China, President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized the importance of expanding Pakistan’s cooperation with China in sectors such as agriculture, communication, space, technology, and industry. The president highlighted Pakistan’s strategic geographical proximity to China and expressed a desire to leverage Chinese advancements for mutual benefit.
According to a statement by Pakistan Peoples Party, President Zardari underscored the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China, describing it as an all-weather relationship. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for China and emphasized the strong bonds between the two nations. The president acknowledged China’s achievements in science and technology as beneficial not only for Pakistan but also for the global community.
President Zardari identified agriculture as a key area where China could assist Pakistan, noting that the country’s per-acre yield lags behind China’s. He also expressed interest in enhancing Pakistan’s capabilities in space technology through collaboration with China.
The president expressed satisfaction with the progress of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), noting its positive impact on Pakistan’s economic landscape. Discussions during his visit also included industrial development, with plans for industrial parks that would involve both Chinese and Pakistani participation.
Highlighting the historical ties between the two countries, President Zardari reflected on the centuries-old relationship based on humanity and trust. He praised the Chinese people for their industriousness and acknowledged China’s rapid advancements across various domains.
President Zardari expressed confidence in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s future progress under China’s leadership, reinforcing the significance of continued collaboration between Pakistan and China on the global stage.
