ACCA Highlights AI and Sustainability at Karachi Conference

Karachi: The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) hosted the Pakistan Leadership Conversation (PLC) 2025 in Karachi, focusing on the future of business and finance through the lenses of artificial intelligence, sustainability, and shared services. The event brought together key stakeholders from various sectors to discuss how these themes can drive economic growth and position Pakistan as a leader in responsible innovation.

According to a statement by Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, the conference theme, “Being Bold: From Surviving to Thriving,” underscored ACCA’s commitment to equipping finance professionals with skills for the future. Ayla Majid, President of ACCA, delivered a keynote address on the intersection of sustainability and AI, highlighting the integration of technology and sustainable practices for long-term business resilience.

Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh, served as the chief guest and outlined Pakistan’s economic roadmap to 2047. He emphasized the critical role of technology and sustainable financial strategies in building a future-ready economy. His address focused on embracing AI-driven efficiencies and promoting ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance)-driven strategies as essential for Pakistan’s economic progress.

The conference included two panel discussions. The first, “From Brown to Green: Innovating in Transition,” examined Pakistan’s shift towards a low-carbon economy and the role of AI in sustainability reporting. Industry leaders from various sectors shared strategies to advance Pakistan’s sustainability agenda.

The second panel, “Unlocking the SSO Potential: What’s Next?” explored the shared services and outsourcing sector’s contribution to IT and ITeS export growth. Leaders from top firms discussed strategies to strengthen Pakistan’s shared services sector.

Assad Hameed Khan, Head of ACCA Pakistan, emphasized the importance of the finance profession in driving sustainable and digital advancements in the country. He expressed gratitude to speakers and partners for contributing to the critical discussions at PLC 2025.
