Karachi: Zone-IV Whites secured a decisive victory over Zone-VII Whites, winning by 9 wickets in their final Group “D” match, thus advancing to the quarterfinals of the Woodward Trophy Under-17 Inter Zonal Cricket Tournament. Zone-VII Whites also moved to the next round by securing the second position. Zone-II Blues emerged victorious in another match.
According to Regional Cricket Association Karachi, In the match held at KCCA Stadium, Zone-IV Whites chased down the target set by Zone-VII Whites, reaching 144/1 in 30.5 overs. Rana Areeb Aftab’s unbeaten 72 runs, supported by Aun Abbas’s 53, were instrumental in the win. Earlier, Zone-VII Whites were bowled out for 142 in 36.5 overs, with notable contributions from Hammad Zaidi and Maaz Khan. The bowling effort was led by Shiraz Ali, Aun Abbas, and Farzam Ghani.
In a separate match at Young Fighter Ground, Zone-II Blues defeated Zone-V Green by 157 runs. Zone-II Blues posted a total of 273/6 in their allotted 40 overs. Key performances came from Muhammad Siddiqui, S.M. Basit Naqvi, and Umer Jadoon. Zone-V Green was bowled out for 116 in 30.2 overs, with Sameer Baig and Hanzala Fazal leading the bowling attack. Aun Abbas and Sameer Baig were awarded the Medicam Man of the Match honors for their performances in their respective matches.
