PTI Leader Demands Transparency and Accountability for KP Elected Officials

Karachi: A senior figure in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has raised alarms over the current political climate, highlighting concerns about the lack of transparency surrounding the whereabouts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's elected officials. Rizwan Niazi, PTI Sindh Additional General Secretary, called for immediate disclosure of their status, urging the government to ensure equal accountability for all political entities.

According to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Rizwan Niazi criticized what he described as "selective accountability" and "political victimisation," arguing that these practices undermine democratic principles. He emphasized the public's right to know about the safety and location of their elected representatives, including the chief minister and speaker of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Niazi further condemned the continued detention of PTI founder Imran Khan, describing it as a violation of fundamental human rights, especially as his family members face restrictions on visiting him. He demanded immediate family meetings with Khan and criticized the use of political differences as grounds for personal vendettas.

The PTI leader stressed that justice and constitutional supremacy require an independent judiciary and called on state institutions to operate free from political influence. He urged the government to abandon what he termed "fascist policies" and to release political prisoners, facilitating political reconciliation over coercive measures. Niazi advocated for respecting the electoral mandate of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's people and restoring the public mandate of February 8.

The statement underscores the ongoing tensions in Pakistan's political landscape, with Niazi warning that the crisis cannot be resolved through arrests or retaliatory actions but requires genuine political dialogue and adherence to constitutional principles.
