Lahore: In a major development aimed at fostering academic solidarity, the University of Lahore (UOL), along with the Association of Private Universities of Pakistan (APSUP) and the COMSTECH Consortium of Excellence (CCoE), has inaugurated the second phase of the COMSTECH-Palestine scholarships and fellowships programme, pledging 5,000 fellowships for Palestinian students and researchers. This initiative represents a significant expansion from the initial 500 fully-funded fellowships, emphasizing a robust commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for the Palestinian community.
According to The University of Lahore, the announcement was made during a ceremony that drew notable figures including Prof Dr M Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of COMSTECH, who detailed the programme’s growth. Other dignitaries, such as Mr Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Federal Minister of Science and Technology, also supported the initiative, which strengthens the ties between Pakistan and Palestine and underscores the collaborative effort to boost Palestinian academic prospects.
