Lahore: The Institute of Social and Cultural Studies (ISCS) at the University of the Punjab has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Punjab Probation and Parole Services (PP and PS), Home Department, Government of Punjab. This collaboration, formalized on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, aims to provide enhanced research, development, and training opportunities for students.
According to University of the Punjab, the MOU was signed by Prof. Dr. Rubeena Zakar, Director of ISCS, and Muhammad Shahid Iqbal, Director General of Punjab Probation and Parole Services. This partnership is set to offer internship opportunities for ISCS students, allowing them to gain practical experience and engage directly with ongoing projects within the Probation and Parole Department.
The collaboration between ISCS and PP and PS is also expected to extend beyond internships. Both institutions have committed to working jointly on research projects, developing policy documents, and organizing conferences and seminars that will focus on the probation and parole systems. This initiative is designed to enrich the academic experience of students and contribute to the betterment of community correctional strategies.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by the Director of ISCS, marking a promising start to what both entities anticipate will be a fruitful and impactful collaboration.
