Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Leads Discussion on Water Distribution and Flood Response

Karachi: Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, today presided over a key video-link meeting with the Irrigation Ministers of Sindh and Balochistan, focusing on the management of water resources and flood mitigation in both provinces.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, the meeting involved detailed discussions with Sadiq Umrani and Jam Khan Shoro, the Irrigation Ministers for Balochistan and Sindh respectively. The ministers briefed Chairman Zardari on the operational performance of their departments and the recent challenges posed by floods in their areas due to heavy rains.

The discussion also centered on adopting a unified stance regarding the water distribution formula across the country, to be presented at the platform of the Indus River System Authority (IRSA). Both ministers agreed on the importance of coordination and collaboration in water resource management, especially in the context of recent environmental challenges.

Chairman Zardari expressed particular concern about the flood damages and inquired about the integrity of canal embankments, which have been severely impacted. In response, the ministers outlined the extent of the damages and detailed the ongoing efforts to repair and reinforce the infrastructure to prevent future crises.
