Pasban Leader Criticizes Government Over Load Shedding During Independence Day

Karachi: Abdul Hakim Quaid, a leader from the Pasban Democratic Party, condemned the continuation of load shedding during Independence Day, stressing it undermined the nation’s patriotism and highlighted broader governance issues.

According to Pasban Democratic Party, Quaid expressed dismay that many citizens spent the national holiday in darkness due to power outages. He criticized electricity companies for not maintaining power supply during public holidays and accused them of contributing to a loss of national spirit by depriving citizens of essential services. Quaid argued that the burden of electricity theft should not fall on honest consumers who fulfill their payment obligations.

The statement also touched on the lack of effective measures by the state and power companies to tackle electricity theft, suggesting that the responsibility for controlling power line losses and punishing culprits is being unjustly shifted to consumers. Quaid’s comments reflect deep-seated frustration with systemic issues in energy management and the perceived inaction of government and power entities regarding the equitable distribution of electricity.
