Islamabad: Minhaj-ul-Quran International (MQI) marked Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day with a ceremonial flag hoisting at its central secretariat, reflecting a national spirit of unity and dedication to the vision of Pakistan’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
According to Minhaj-Ul-Quran International announcement issued on 13 August 2024, the ceremony featured a flag-hoisting, a cake cutting to celebrate the occasion, and collective prayers for the country’s prosperity and stability. Deputy Nazim-e-Ala of MQI, Engineer Muhammad Rafiq Najam, delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of Independence Day as a moment to renew commitment to turning Pakistan into a true Islamic welfare state. He highlighted the significance of freedom and sovereignty, stressing that they transcend personal or party interests.
Rafiq Najam also recounted the historical context of August 14th as a pivotal milestone that brought the Muslims of the Indian subcontinent to their true destination of freedom. He urged the nation to continue striving towards the ideals set forth by the country’s founders and to actively participate in the ongoing development and protection of Pakistan.
The event saw a significant turnout of leaders and members from Pakistan Awami Tehreek and Minhaj-ul-Quran, including notable figures such as Syed Altaf Shah Gilani, Sohail Ahmed Raza, and others, who all pledged to uphold the country’s values and work towards its betterment.
