Islamabad: The Pakistan Shaheens are gearing up to compete against Bangladesh ‘A’ in the first of two four-day cricket matches starting on August 13 at the Islamabad Club. This series is part of both teams’ preparations for the upcoming ICC World Test Championship fixtures.
According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the series holds significant importance as it serves as a crucial preparatory phase for players from both teams, especially since Pakistan and Bangladesh have not participated in Test matches since early this year. The Pakistan Shaheens, led by Saud Shakeel, and Bangladesh ‘A’, captained by Anamul Haque, are both integrating players who are slated to join their respective national teams for the ICC World Test Championship later this month.
The team rosters include notable players such as Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haque for Bangladesh ‘A’, and Naseem Shah and Sarfaraz Ahmed for the Pakistan Shaheens. Both teams aim to fine-tune their strategies and form, with Pakistan focusing on its fast-bowling strength and Bangladesh on its competitive spin capabilities.
The matches are scheduled to provide the players, particularly the Test probables, with essential match practice, mirroring conditions they will face in the international arena. The series is also a platform for younger players to make an impression and secure their places in the senior squads.
