Islamabad: At a recent roundtable discussion, Ambassador (r) Syed Abrar Hussain, Vice Chairman of the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS), emphasized the critical need for robust diplomatic relations and increased people-to-people contacts between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The event, titled ‘Pak-Afghan Relations: Challenges and Opportunities’, was hosted by the Institute of Regional Studies (IRS) and focused on improving bilateral ties and border management efficiencies.
According to Institute of Policy Studies, the VC-IPS highlighted the dual importance of nurturing diplomatic channels and fostering direct contacts among citizens to strengthen ties between the two neighboring countries. He stressed efficient border management as a vital element for regional stability and security.
Furthermore, Ambassador Hussain called on surrounding regional countries to support the Afghan interim government in tackling terrorism and enhancing governance capacities to address the challenges emanating from Afghanistan.
