Karachi: Altaf Shakoor, Chairman of the Pasban Democratic Party (PDP), has voiced significant concerns over the government’s lack of action concerning ongoing issues within the educational boards of Sindh. These issues, he states, have negatively impacted both students and parents, particularly highlighted by last year’s events involving the Intermediate Board Karachi.
According to Pasban Democratic Party, the situation last year involved serious mismanagement, where exam papers did not align with the prescribed syllabus and students received unfairly low marks amid textbook shortages. Despite an ordered inquiry by the then acting chief minister of Sindh, which culminated in a report recommending disciplinary actions against those responsible, no subsequent actions were taken by the government.
Shakoor revealed that in response to these unresolved issues, affected parties sought legal redress, leading to the filing of a constitutional petition with the support of the PDP. The Sindh High Court, under justices Arshad Akram Khan and Sana Akram Minhas, has taken note of the plea and issued notices for a hearing set for August 22, 2024.
The PDP Chairman reaffirmed the party’s commitment to continue supporting pro bono legal cases across Sindh that address matters of public interest, emphasizing the need for governmental accountability and reform in the education sector.
