Karachi: In response to a constitutional petition filed regarding the alleged mismanagement and corruption in Sindh’s educational boards, the Sindh High Court has issued notices to several key educational officials. The court is set to address claims that systemic issues have adversely affected student performance and overall board integrity.
According to Pasban Democratic Party, the petition, lodged on behalf of student Aseed Zahid by advocate Khurram Lakhani, highlights serious concerns over the handling of inter-board exams. The petition, which was heard by Justices Arshad Hussain Khan and Sana Akram Minhas, has led to the issuance of notices to the Chief Secretary of Sindh, the Chairman of the Inter Board, and the Controller of Examinations, with responses required by August 22.
The filing of this petition follows incidents last year where significant mismanagement was reported within the Intermediate Board Karachi, including discrepancies in exam papers and the assignment of unjustifiably low marks. Despite student protests and an inquiry that recommended actions against those responsible, the government had previously remained silent on the issue. Altaf Shakoor, Chairman of the Pasban Democratic Party, criticized the government’s inaction and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to advocating for educational reforms and accountability.
