Punjab Arts Council Plans Vibrant Independence Day Celebrations

Rawalpindi: The Punjab Arts Council, under the chairmanship of Member Punjab Assembly Shazia Rizwan, has announced plans for elaborate Independence Day celebrations, including the debut of two unique floats that will travel across major cities in Punjab. These floats are designed to celebrate Pakistan’s national heroes and cultural heritage.

According to Punjab Arts Council, the detailed plans for the floats were discussed during a recent Board of Management meeting. The floats, a new initiative for the council, will feature representations of all four provinces and include statues of key figures such as Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal. One float will journey from Rawalpindi to Lahore via GT Road, and the other will travel from Dera Ghazi Khan to Multan, incorporating music and folk dances to entertain and educate onlookers about the Pakistan Movement.

The meeting also included discussions with local poets and writers, who briefed Shazia Rizwan about the literary activities and contributions of organizations in the Rawalpindi-Islamabad area. Following the discussions, a painting exhibition was inaugurated in collaboration with Rawalpindi Women University, showcasing the artistic talents of students, who were also recognized with certificates of appreciation.

The Independence Day celebrations and the associated cultural activities underscore the Punjab Arts Council’s commitment to promoting arts and literature in the region, enriching community engagement and national pride.
