Karachi Health Crisis Worsens, Pasban Democratic Party Calls for Government Action

Karachi: The Pasban Democratic Party has raised alarms about escalating health crises in Karachi, attributing them to a combination of viral epidemics, persistent loadshedding, and rampant pollution. Party leaders cite overwhelmed hospital capacities and escalating healthcare costs as urgent issues needing immediate government intervention.

According to Pasban Democratic Party, outbreaks of diseases such as dengue and chikungunya are surging, exacerbated by environmental and infrastructural challenges. Sardar Zulfiqar highlighted that government hospitals are failing to provide necessary treatments, forcing patients to seek expensive care in private facilities. Zafar Iqbal noted the dual problem of high medicine prices and shortages, which are compounding public health risks. Mian Riaz emphasized the need for the government to ensure availability and affordability of healthcare services to prevent further mortality.

The party detailed how the public is burdened with high costs in private hospitals, where treatment for common ailments can quickly escalate into bills of fifty thousand to one lakh rupees, excluding the initial costs for medicines and tests. They called for decisive government action to address these healthcare barriers and support the population during this critical period.
