21% of Pakistanis reported that they have started looking for ways to earn additional money to cover their household’s basic needs; this is an increase from 11% in July 2021: Gallup and Gilani Pakistan

Islamabad, October 26, 2021 (PPI-OT):According to a survey conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, 21% of Pakistanis reported that they have started looking for ways to earn additional money to cover their household’s basic needs; this is an increase from 11% in July 2021.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women from across the four provinces was asked the following question, “In the past 7 days, did you ‘look for ways to earn additional money (e.g., work more hours, do an occasional job etc.)’ to cover your household’s basic needs? (Only reporting percentage of people who agreed).” In response to this question, 21% of people agreed that they have started looking for ways to earn additional money to cover their household’s basic needs in August 2021 as compared to 11% in July 2021.

Question: “In the past 7 days, did you ‘look for ways to earn additional money (e.g., work more hours, do an occasional job etc.)’ to cover your household’s basic needs? (Only reporting percentage of people who agreed).”
