The four-day celebrations of the Bahawalpur Literary and Cultural Festival have come to an end

Bahawalpur, March 06, 2023 (PPI-OT): The four-day celebrations of Bahawalpur Literary and Cultural Festival organized by the Islamia University of Bahawalpur in collaboration with divisional administration, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bahawalpur Museum, Arts Council and other institutions have come to an end.

 

In these four-day events, Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Commissioner Bahawalpur Dr. Ehtasham Anwar, Deputy Commissioner Zaheer Ahmad Jappa, Syed Tabish Alwari, President Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali Maan, Asghar Nadeem Syed, Jami Chandio, Hafeez Khan, Hina Jilani, Sardar Ali Shah, Prof. Dr. Hameed Raza Siddiqui, Mujahid Barelvi, Umbreen Hussain Amber, Aqeel Abbas Jafari, Azhar Faragh, Gul e Nukhiz Akhtar, Mansoor Afaq, Mohsin Bhatti, Naseer Ahmad Nasir, Imran Javed, Anwar Grewal, Usman Khattak, Qaiser Majeed, Prof. Dr. Munir Azhar, Syed Noor, Nasir Adeeb, Amna Mufti, Nazir Leghari, Sheema Kirmani, Rizwan Razi, Oriya Maqbool Jan, Ashraf Sharif, Prof. Shahid Naseem, Sajjad Jahania, Azhar Saleem Majuka, Shakir Hussain Shakir and prominent personalities from across the country including Shaukat Ashfaq participated.

 

According to Shahzad Ahmed Khalid focal person, this festival is being declared as the flagship event of South Punjab promoting art and literature which has become a national and international recognition of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Bahawalpur for the last three years. This festival is also being described as the celebration Jashn e Baharan the former state of Bahawalpur.

 

As many as 30,000 people including student’s fraternity from civil society and government and private institutions participated in the festival, along with citizens and students and the Abbasia campus remained the center of attention for various colourful events. The festival included 46 events including recitation and Naat competitions, debates, folk music, media conclave, Rubaru with guest personalities, screening of Urdu films, comedy, talk shows, book launches, and musical shows.

 

On the last day, 15,000 citizens and students participated in the musical concert held at Abbasia Campus. Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob thanked Commissioner Bahawalpur Dr. Ehtasham Anwar, Deputy Commissioner Zaheer Ahmad Jappa, President Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chaudhry Zulfikar Ali Maan and partner institutions and sponsors and others for participating in these events. He also appreciated the hard work and dedication of the university team and employee’s working day and night in the Literary and Cultural Festival ending it as memorable event of the year.

7th Annual Reunion and Oath Taking Ceremony of SAVERS held at UVAS

Lahore, March 06, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Special Animals and Veterinary Emergency Relief Society (SAVERS) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore arranged 7th Annual Reunion and oath-taking ceremony here at the City Campus.

 

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad chaired the oath-taking ceremony and administered oath to the new office-bearers of the (SAVERS). Principal Students Affairs Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Principal KBCMA-CVAS Narowal Prof Dr Younus Rana and number of students and faculty members were present. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad congratulated the new office bearers. He lauded (SAVERS) services for the welfare of animal and the uplift of veterinary profession.

World Wildlife Day observed at UVAS Ravi Campus

Lahore, March 06, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Department of Wildlife and Ecology of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with WWF-Pakistan observed World Wildlife Day with the theme of ‘Partnerships for wildlife conservation’. Various activities including an awareness walk, seminar, wildlife photography competition and informative lectures were arranged to create awareness about wild fauna and flora among students and the general public.

Dean Faculty of Animal Production and Technology Prof Dr Saima led the walk while Chairman Department of Wildlife and Ecology Dr Arshad Javid, Senior Manager Wildlife Conservation WWF-Pakistan Ms Hamera Ayesha, Manager Geographical Information System (GIS) WWF-Pakistan Mr Usman Akram and a large number of professionals, faculty members and students participated.

In the seminar guests’ speakers delivered their lectures on the topics of use of geospatial technologies in wildlife mapping and assessment and wildlife our assets and common responsibility-partnerships for wildlife conservation at Akram Complex. At the end of seminar Dr Saima distributed certificates among the winner of photography competition and presented the vote of thanks.

Almost half (45%) Pakistanis are unaware of their blood group: Gallup and Gilani Pakistan

Islamabad, March 06, 2023 (PPI-OT): According to a survey conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, almost half (45%) Pakistanis are unaware of their blood group.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women from across the country, who responded yes to the question “Do you know your blood group?” In response, 45% said no while 55% responded yes.
