These customized open house sessions will be the perfect platforms for prospective students to learn more about UMT’s programs, culture, placements, faculty, scholarships, facilities and events. CENTIN/Futurism Organizes Fintech Hackathon 22 

Lahore, September 08, 2022 (PPI-OT):CENTIN/Futurism organized a university drive for “Fintech Hackathon 22” by National Incubation Center (NIC), Islamabad, on September 07, 2022, at 2:00 pm. The Boot camp will take place from September 19 – 21, 2022.

National Incubation Center Islamabad in collaboration with Allied Bank Ltd planned the FinTech Hackathon. This is a chance for coders, UI/UX experts and problem-solvers with a passion for FinTech to win the prize money worth PKR 2 million.

The goal of this three-day event is to find practical innovative solutions for the challenges faced by the Fintech Industry. The problem statements have been gathered directly from those who operate in the Fintech space and face these challenges regularly.

The top 10 teams will pitch at the Innovation Challenge which will be conducted on September 23, 2022, from which the top 6 teams will be selected for the Grand Finale.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Qualification continues as cricket comes back to the Pacific 

Dubai, September 08, 2022 (PPI-OT):The road to the biggest ever ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2024 continues in September with the first of two sub-regional qualifying events taking place in the East Asia Pacific (EAP). One team from each event will book their spot in the EAP Regional Final, where they will play against PNG and the Philippines who have already qualified.

Qualification starts in Port Vila as Vanuatu play host to the Cook Islands, Fiji, and Samoa at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional EAP A Qualifier. Vanuatu, hosting their first international men’s tournament since 2005, will make history as they play the first ever T20I on a Hybrid wicket.

Vanuatu will also welcome the Men’s T20 World Cup Trophy Tour (driven by Nissan) to promote the biggest prize of all. A packed schedule with see the trophy around the island of Efate and join a public celebration at Independence Park in Port Vila attended by His Excellency Nikenike Vurobaravu, President of the Republic of Vanuatu.

Vanuatu Cricket Association (VCA) CEO Tim Cutler said: “Hosting a pathway event on the road to the 2024 T20 World Cup is very exciting as it will allow the people of Vanuatu to see the World Cup trophy up close and personal, knowing that their national team is only two steps away from qualifying for the main event with a guaranteed berth from the East Asia Pacific region for 2024 and beyond.

“The historic significance of this event has been recognised locally with His Excellency Nike Nike Vurobaravu, President of the Republic of Vanuatu to attend the welcome ceremony.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone to come along to one of the public events to get a glimpse of the trophy and to celebrate our country’s highest ranked sporting teams”

Qualification then heads to Sano City, where Japan will host Indonesia and South Korea at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional EAP B Qualifier.

Japan Cricket Association (JCA) Head of Cricket Operations Alan Curr said: “We are really looking forward to hosting international cricket again in Sano for the first time since 2019. I’m sure many fans and players are looking forward to this event so we look forward to hosting a safe and enjoyable tournament”.

Both tournaments will see the winner of a double round robin fixture qualify for the EAP Regional Final scheduled for 2023.

EAP Acting Regional Development Manager Rob Gomm remarked: “The EAP region is excited to be holding these events after a long break in men’s international cricket. All teams have been training hard and will no doubt give it their all to reach the EAP Regional Final.

“I would like to thank both the VCA and JCA for their efforts in putting together what will surely be incredible events.”

Warm-up fixtures announced for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 

Dubai, September 08, 2022 (PPI-OT):The official warm-up fixtures for all 16 teams of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 have been announced, with matches to be played across Brisbane and Melbourne.

First Round teams will commence their preparations in Melbourne, with matches split between the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Junction Oval from 10-13 October.

Teams starting in the Super 12 stage will play all warm-up fixtures over two match days in Brisbane on October 17 and 19. These matches will be played at The Gabba and Allan Border Field.

The first warm-up fixture will feature two-time champions West Indies against United Arab Emirates at Junction Oval on 10 October, with each of the First Round teams to play two warm-up matches each.

Hosts Australia will play their only official warm-up fixture against India on 17 October at The Gabba. In addition to Australia, world number one India will face New Zealand on 19 October, also at The Gabba.

Warm-up fixtures will not be open to spectators, however the four warm-up matches at The Gabba on 17 and 19 October will be broadcast live by the ICC’s Global Broadcast Partner Star Sports. Also, the ICC digital channels will feature live scores and match highlights for all matches.

As per previous ICC events, the warm-up fixtures will not carry official T20 International status.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 begins on October 16 when Sri Lanka faces Namibia at Kardinia Park Stadium in Geelong.

Pakistan Junior League team names unveiled 

Lahore, September 08, 2022 (PPI-OT):Each of the six teams competing in the Pakistan Junior League 2022 were given an individual identity at the start of the player draft, which is taking place in Lahore today.

The titles have been given according to the geography, culture and heritage of the six sides which represent the six Cricket Associations.

Bahawalpur Royals: Bahawalpur has a rich princely heritage and it is considered the royal jewel of Southern Punjab. The Royals will aim to carry the legacy of the city by inspirational on-field performance in the Pakistan Junior League.

Gujranwala Giants: Home to the all-time great wrestler Gama Pehlwan also known as Rustam-e-Zaman, Gujranwala has a rich sporting tradition which the Giants will embody during the Pakistan Junior League. The wrestling tradition is prevalent even today with the present generation carrying on the baton and winning medals for the country in sporting events around the world.

Gwadar Sharks: The beautiful and scenic Gwadar beach is considered Pakistan’s gateway to the world via the Arabian Sea. The Gwadar Sharks will be lurking for their sporting prey when action begins at the Gaddafi Stadium on 6 October in the 19-match tournament.

Hyderabad Hunters: The city known for its culinary delights will be game for all the flavours that cricket has to offer. The Hunters will hope to stay in the hunt for the prestigious title – the inaugural Pakistan Junior League champions.

Mardan Warriors: The Warriors will aim to continue the proud tradition of the warriors of the region renowned for their never-say-die attitude and killer instincts, two ingredients found in all sporting victors.

Rawalpindi Raiders: The Rawalpindi and Potohar regions are renowned for their rugged terrain and survivor traits. The Raiders would be ready to raid for glory at the Pakistan Junior League 2022.

PCB Director Commercial Usman Waheed: “We have tried to associate the names of each of the six sides with their respective cities keeping in mind their own individual identity, cultural and traditional background and history. Each of the six Cricket Associations are represented at the Pakistan Junior League and each side carries a unique flavour.

“We have aimed to lay the foundation of six sides that will in due course become household names and brands especially amongst the cricket playing youth and the enthusiasts of the game not only in the country but around the world.”

PJL coaching staff for the inaugural season announced 

Lahore, September 08, 2022 (PPI-OT):Some of the leading coaches involved with domestic U19 and senior teams have been handed the reins of the six Pakistan Junior League teams for the 19-match inaugural season set to be held at Lahore’s Gadhafi Stadium from 6 to 21 October.

The roster includes foreign coaches Gordon Parsons and Toby Radford. Parsons and Radford are two of the five coaches recruited for the PCB Pathway Programme. Radford will be joining the programme this week and will link-up with his PJL team once the event support period begins in the last week of September.

Parsons has been named the head coach of Bahawalpur while Radford will be coaching Rawalpindi in the inaugural season. Pakistan U19 and Shaheens coach Ijaz Ahmed Snr, who is currently coaching Northern in the Kingdom Valley National T20 Cup 2022-23, will head Gujranwala’s coaching staff.

PCB’s spin bowling consultant and Balochistan head coach, Mushtaq Ahmed, will be the head coach of the Gwadar side, while Abdul Razzaq, the Central Punjab head coach, will spearhead Hyderabad support staff.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa head coach Abdur Rehman will be Mardan’s head coach.

Each of the six sides have also been assigned specialised coaches for support of their head coaches.

Former Pakistan Test opener Imran Farhat (currently involved with Central Punjab) will be batting coach at Bahawalpur. Former Test bowler Aizaz Cheema, who is part of the Southern Punjab coaching team, will be the bowling coach for Gujranwala.

PCB coach Kamran Khan currently involved with Northern will be Gwadar’s batting coach and Sindh head coach Ghulam Ali will join Razzaq in the Hyderabad dugout as the batting coach.

Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Sami would be making his coaching debut with a stint for Mardan as bowling coach.

Seasoned U19 and age-group coach Muhammad Masroor would be Rawalpindi’s batting coach.

The head coaches and assistant coaches will select their PJL squads in the player draft which will be held in Lahore today.

Rest of the support staff for the six teams will be announced in due course.
