Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari assumes charge as Chairperson PRCS

Karachi, September 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari assumed the charge of Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) as Chairperson on Monday. He has 22 years of experience in the corporate and healthcare sector. Soon after his arrival at the PRCS National Headquarters, Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari held meetings with the management and officers of the National Society.

Secretary General briefed the new chairperson in detail on the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement, mandate and countrywide programs, interventions and operations of PRCS and assured him of full cooperation and assistance. Mr. Shahid Ahmed Laghari appreciated the role of the PRCS in mitigating the suffering of the most vulnerable. He said the PRCS was a national humanitarian organization having won international acclaim and recognition.

He stressed the need for increased commitment and dedication to help the vulnerable in a befitting manner. Honourable Chairman said that floods have caused a lot of destruction in Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and South Punjab. He instructed all departments to expedite efforts for rescue, relief, and rehabilitation of the recent flood-hit population. He also inspected all departments of the Red Crescent and participated in the online meeting of the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC).

IUB organized the first contract signing ceremony of its School Franchise System organized by DISS 

Bahawalpur, September 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Islamia University of Bahawalpur organized the first contract signing ceremony of its School Franchise System organized by Directorate of Islamia University School System (DISS) at Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Abdul Samad, Director DISS. Mr. Rizwan Majeed, Director IT and Dr. Samar Fahad, Syndicate Member. The first franchise of the Islamia University School System was obtained by Mr. Hafiz Muhammad Sikandar Shakeel from Khanpur. The tenure of this contract is 10 years.

Under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur becomes the first public sector university in the country to bring innovation in school education along with higher education by launching a school franchise network. Interested people from all over the country can now play a significant role to promote school education in their area by acquiring the franchise of Islamia University School System.

The Islamia University School System is a unique education system of its kind as it is flourishing under the patronage of university academia professors. Sichuan Agricultural University China sent a special letter to IUB, expressing regret and assistance for the devastation 

Bahawalpur, September 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):The ongoing aid campaign for the flood victims by the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is getting great recognition at the national and international level. China’s Sichuan Agricultural University Vice President Professor Dr. Lu Yanli wrote a special letter to Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob and Director Intercropping Technology Dr. Muhammad Ali Raza and expressed his regret over the recent rains and floods in Pakistan. He also expressed his grief to the flood-affected university teachers and students and said that the teachers and students of Sichuan Agriculture University are standing with the Islamia University of Bahawalpur in the hour of trouble.

China and Pakistan have a long-standing friendship. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Sichuan Agriculture University are cooperating in many fields and the Islamia University of Bahawalpur sends its best students to Sichuan Agriculture University for higher education. He expressed hope that the affected students of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur will face this natural calamity steadfastly and return to their daily life as soon as possible.

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur flood relief camp has so far provided aid worth Rs 50 lac to the flood affected areas. Focal Person of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur for relief campaign for flood victims Prof. Dr. Asif Naveed Ranjha said that Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry is also cooperating with the Islamia University of Bahawalpur in relief activities and soon the consignment of relief campaign will be sent to Rahim Yar Khan.

Senior Tutor and Chairman Department of Media and Communication Studies Prof. Dr. Abdul Wajid Khan said that in the past few days, relief materials worth Rs 25 lac were distributed by the students of Performing Art Society in the flood affected areas of Rajanpur. The faculty members of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Rahim Yar Khan Campus distributed ration, tents and clothes to more than 40 flood affected families yesterday.

Director Rahim Yar Khan Campus Mian Muhammad Umair Ashraf said that under the supervision of Asadullah Lecturer of Mathematics Department, more than 300 flood affected families received relief goods of worth more than 10 lac including sugar, rice, dry ration, tarpals and cots. Insha Allah, Rahim Yar Khan Campus will soon distribute relief materials to more than 300 affected families in next phase.

Dubai, September 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):The wicket-keeper batter becomes only the third Pakistan player to be No.1 in the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings after Babar Azam and Misbah-ul-Haq.

Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan has overtaken his opening partner and Captain Babar Azam to seize the top position among batters in the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings after the weekly update carried out on Wednesday.

Rizwan followed up his Player of the Match effort of 78 off 57 deliveries in an Asia Cup Group A match against Hong Kong with a crucial 71 off 51 against India in a Super Fours match in Dubai, to move from 796 rating points to a career-best 815 and claim the top position for the first time.

Rizwan is only the third Pakistan batter to be No. 1 in the T20I batting rankings after Babar, who has been at the top of the table for 1,155 days in all, and Misbah-ul-Haq, who was at the top for 313 days, from 20 April 2008 to 27 February 2009.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Nawaz’s match-winning 42 off 20 in the same match sees him move up 142 slots to 358th in the rankings.

India’s Suryakumar Yadav has dropped to fourth place in the latest update even as a host of players from Sri Lanka and Afghanistan have made their way up after some fine performances in the Asia Cup.

Sri Lanka openers Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis have made notable progress after scoring half-centuries in a memorable win against India on Tuesday. Nissanka is up one place to eighth while Mendis has advanced 63 places to 41st position.

Dasun Shanaka (up 11 places to 39th) and Bhanuka Rajapaksa (up 31 places to 68th) have also moved up the rankings for batters while off-spinner Maheesh Theekshana has progressed five places to eighth among bowlers.

Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s Player of the Match effort of 84 off 45 balls that helped beat Sri Lanka in a group match, has helped him progress 14 places to 15th while Najeebullah Zadran has moved up two places to 28th after scoring 43 against Bangladesh. Spinners Mujeeb Ur Rehman (up three places to sixth) and Mohammad Nabi (up two places to 32nd) have also gained in the latest update.

India captain Rohit Sharma has gained four slots to reach 13th position after scoring 72 against Sri Lanka in their Super Fours match while former captain Virat Kohli has gained four places and is 29th in the list after scoring 60 against Pakistan. Ravichandran Ashwin (up eight places to 50th) and Arshdeep Singh (up 28 places to 62nd) have also progressed.

In the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings updated after the second and third Australia versus Zimbabwe matches and the first Australia versus New Zealand match, Australia’s David Warner has moved up one place to sixth position among batters and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson up one place to 10th.

Australia fast bowler Mitchell Stark has moved up three places to 12th and leg-spinner Adam Zampa two places to 18th.
