The Nippon Foundation Donates Books and Inaugurates JPAC in Islamabad

Islamabad: In a move to promote global understanding of Japan, the Nippon Foundation donated 168 English-language books to Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Islamabad. The handover was part of the "Read Japan Project" and took place during a ceremony where H.E. Mr. Akamatsu Shuichi, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, presented the collection to Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood, AIOU Vice-Chancellor.

According to Allama Iqbal Open University, the books cover a range of topics including Japan's history, politics, economy, and culture. The event also marked the inauguration of the Japan Pakistan Advancement Center (JPAC) aimed at fostering language and cultural exchanges, as well as promoting employment and entrepreneurship. Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, H.E. Chaudhry Salik Hussain, attended the event, highlighting the significance of the initiatives in strengthening bilateral relations.

Ambassador Akamatsu emphasized the role of books in fostering understanding and innovation, while Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood expressed gratitude for the support and outlined his commitment to enhancing educational ties with Japan through JPAC. The Federal Minister echoed these sentiments, noting the potential for the initiatives to further friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
