Colombo: Sri Lanka has announced a 15-player squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Pakistan, with Kusal Mendis appointed as the captain. The series will commence on October 9 and all matches are scheduled to be held in Rawalpindi.

According to International Cricket Council, the squad includes prominent batsmen such as Kamil Mishara, Sineth Jayawardena, Lahiru Udara, Sahan Arachchige, Kamindu Mendis, and Dasun Shanaka, with Chamindu Wickramasinghe providing additional depth. The spin options for the team comprise Dunith Wellalage, Maheesh Theekshana, and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, while the pace attack will be led by Dushmantha Chameera, Binura Fernando, Nuwan Thushara, and Eshan Malinga.

The team will be without Pathum Nissanka and Wanindu Hasaranga, both sidelined due to injuries. Their return is anticipated for the subsequent ODI tri-series, pending fitness assessments. Asitha Fernando, who emerged as the top wicket-taker in the recent ODI series against England, is expected to play a crucial role in the bowling lineup.

The T20I series marks the beginning of a comprehensive tour that includes a five-match ODI tri-series with England and a two-match Test series against Pakistan, which is part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27. The Sri Lankan squad aims to perform strongly under the leadership of Mendis, who showcased impressive form during their recent tour of England.
