Khurshid Ahmad Completes MPhil in English Literature with Focus on Freudian Analysis of War Literature

CHITRAL: Mr. Khurshid Ahmad has successfully earned his MPhil degree in English Literature from the University of Chitral. His research explores the use of Freudian psychoanalysis to examine defense mechanisms in Kristin Hannah's novel, "The Women," with a focus on how female characters manage war-related trauma.

According to University of Chitral, the research was supervised by Dr. Syed Anwar Ali Shah, Head of the Department of English Language & Literature, and evaluated by Prof. Dr. Qaisar Khan of the University of Malakand, who served as the external examiner during the viva voce. The thesis employed qualitative textual analysis to investigate the psychological and gendered aspects of war, specifically examining repression, denial, and sublimation. The study has been recognized for its contribution to psychoanalytic literary criticism and its relevance to contemporary war literature. The university extended its congratulations to Mr. Ahmad, his supervisor, and the department for this academic achievement.
