Islamabad: Women University Mardan (WUM) observed Defence Day with patriotic fervor, remembering the sacrifices made during the 1965 Indo-Pak war. The main campus hosted a commemorative event themed “Sacrifice and Valor,” attended by over 200 students, faculty, and staff.
The gathering featured various expressions of national pride, including dramatic performances, patriotic songs, speeches in both Urdu and English, and a poster competition showcasing themes of unity and national strength.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana presided over the function and emphasized the continuing importance of Defence Day. She lauded the sacrifices of the martyrs as an inspiration for upcoming generations and encouraged students to demonstrate similar commitment in their studies and civic duties.
A team of faculty members, comprising Dr. Hassina Bashir, Dr. Nelofar Ikram, Dr. Robina Rashid, Ms. Anfal Afridi, Ms. Rani Zain, Ms. Sara Khan, Ms. Halima Ikram (Director ORIC), and Mr. Fazal Mueez, coordinated the program.
The event concluded with attendees reaffirming their commitment to uphold the legacy of Pakistani heroes and protect the nation’s future.
