Will Jacks to Debut in Brisbane as England Seeks Ashes Comeback

Brisbane: England has announced its XI for the second Ashes Test against Australia at the Gabba, with spin bowling all-rounder Will Jacks set to make his debut in the series. Jacks replaces the injured fast bowler Mark Wood, as England aims to bounce back from their loss in the opening Test at Perth.

Jacks, who has previously played two Tests during England’s tour of Pakistan in 2022, joins a lineup that remains otherwise unchanged from the first match. In his brief Test career, Jacks has taken six wickets and scored 89 runs, including a five-wicket haul on his debut against Pakistan.

The England team for the Brisbane Test comprises Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, captain Ben Stokes, Jamie Smith, Will Jacks, Gus Atkinson, Brydon Carse, and Jofra Archer.

England faces a significant challenge after losing the first Test by eight wickets within two days. Despite this setback, captain Ben Stokes expressed his determination to reclaim the Ashes, with four matches left in the series.

The second Test is scheduled to commence on December 4, as part of the ICC World Test Championship cycle for 2025-27.
