Pakistan to Face Sri Lanka in T20 Series Ahead of World Cup

Colombo: Pakistan is set to tour Sri Lanka for a three-match T20I series in January 2026 as both teams gear up for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The Sri Lanka Cricket Board announced that the series will be held in Dambulla, with matches scheduled on January 7, 9, and 11.

The series is seen as a crucial opportunity for both teams to acclimate to conditions similar to those expected at the World Cup, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka starting in February 2026.

The upcoming series follows a tri-nation contest that included Zimbabwe, where Pakistan claimed victory over Sri Lanka in the final. Pakistan’s recent performance has been strong, with home series wins against South Africa and Sri Lanka.

In the T20 World Cup, Pakistan will compete in Group A alongside India, the USA, Namibia, and the Netherlands. Sri Lanka, in Group B, will face Australia, Zimbabwe, Ireland, and Oman. Both teams aim to leverage the series to fine-tune their strategies for the global tournament.
