WAPDA Captain Iftikhar Ahmed Penalized for Conduct Breach in President’s Cup

Lahore: Iftikhar Ahmed, captain of the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) cricket team, has been fined 50 percent of his match fees for violating the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) code of conduct during a recent game. The incident occurred in the first semi-final of the President’s Cup One-Day 2024-25 against Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited at Jinnah Stadium, Gujranwala.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, Iftikhar was found guilty of a Level 1 breach under Article 2.8 of the PCB’s code of conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. His violation involved showing dissent to an umpire’s decision during a leg-before-wicket appeal in his team’s bowling innings.

The charges were brought by on-field umpires Muhammad Asif and Zulfiqar Jan, and the match referee Iqbal Sheikh presided over the hearing where Iftikhar acknowledged the violation and accepted the imposed fine.
