VSO Delegation Visits Punjab University to Explore Collaborative Opportunities in Gender Studies

LAHORE: A delegation from Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) visited the Department of Gender Studies (DGS) at Punjab University for a meeting with Chairperson Prof. Dr. Rubeena Zakar to explore potential future collaborations. The meeting included discussions on integrating VSO-developed modules into a course on civic engagement, facilitating access to VSO's online courses, and launching a certification course on civic engagement.

According to University of the Punjab, the delegation was led by VSO Country Representative Ms. Sehr Afsheen and included Ms. Bahar and CEO of Bargad Foundation Ms. Sabeeha Shaheen. The talks focused on community engagement, student-led social action projects, and other experiential learning initiatives. Prof. Dr. Rubeena Zakar emphasized the department's current involvement in community-based initiatives and expressed interest in strengthening these collaborations. Climate change was noted as a significant area for potential cooperation, aligning with the department's BS Gender and Climate Change program.

Faculty members Prof. Dr. Rana Malik, Dr. Ambreen Salahuddin, Dr. Qaiser Khalid Mehmood, Dr. Lubna Razak, and Dr. Muhammad Uzair also attended the meeting. The session concluded with a commitment to further explore beneficial academic and community-based initiatives.
