UVAS Marks 78th Independence Day with Ceremonial Events

LAHORE: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) in Lahore commemorated the 78th Independence Day of Pakistan with a series of ceremonies and activities across all its campuses on Thursday. The celebrations included flag-hoisting, Quran Khawani, prayers for Pakistan’s martyrs, and a cake-cutting ceremony.

The day commenced with Quran Khawani and special prayers at the university mosque, dedicated to the martyrs and the prosperity of the nation and the university.

Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus, together with Prof. Dr. Kamran Ashraf and Prof. Dr. Mati Ur Rehman, led the national flag-hoisting ceremony. The event was attended by faculty members, students, administrative staff, and their families.

Prof. Dr. Younus and other dignitaries subsequently planted saplings in front of the Administration Block Lawn, promoting greenery within the City Campus.

In his address, Prof. Dr. Younus congratulated the university community on the occasion and paid homage to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Dr. Allama Iqbal for their roles in achieving an independent nation for Muslims in the Indian subcontinent. He also acknowledged Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan’s contributions to Pakistan’s defense and praised the courage of the Pakistani forces during recent military operations.

Prof. Dr. Younus highlighted the sacrifices made by the nation’s ancestors for independence and emphasized the significance of freedom, drawing attention to the ongoing struggles in Kashmir and Palestine. He called on Pakistanis to contribute to the country’s development using knowledge and wisdom.

The ceremony concluded with prayers for the martyrs of the Pakistan army and the advancement of UVAS.

Similar ceremonies took place at UVAS’s other campuses, including Ravi Campus Pattoki, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Jhang, Khan Bahadur Chaudhary Mushtaq Ahmad College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Narowal, and Para-Veterinary Institute Karor Lal-Eason Layyah.
