University of the Punjab to Host Ph.D. Defense on Rice Disease Assessment by Taiba Muhammad Ahmad

Lahore, The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the University of the Punjab is set to host the Ph.D. thesis public defense and viva voce examination for candidate Ms. Taiba Muhammad Ahmad. The event, scheduled for Friday, 23rd February 2024, will feature Ms. Ahmad’s research on the assessment of bacterial leaf blight disease in rice and its impact on yield through spatial modeling in Pakistan.

According to University of The Punjab, Ms. Ahmad has completed her Ph.D. under the esteemed guidance of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Haider and Prof. Dr. Sajid Rashid Ahmad. Her work provides a critical evaluation of plant disease impact on one of Pakistan’s staple crops and offers insights into predicting yield loss, which is pivotal for the agricultural planning and food security of the country.

The public defense will take place at 10:00 am in the Seminar Room of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences (FAS), reflecting the university’s commitment to fostering academic discourse and research dissemination.
