University of the Punjab to Explore Urban Class Boundaries in Upcoming Ph.D. Defense

Lahore, The University of the Punjab will host the public defense of Ms. Hina Maqbool’s Ph.D. dissertation on Thursday, June 27, 2024. The session is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Institute of Social and Cultural Studies, focusing on the role of higher education in shaping urban class boundaries.

According to University of the Punjab, Ms. Maqbool’s research, titled “The Role of Higher Education Systems in Re/Production of Class Boundaries in Urban Space: A Mixed Methods Study of Lahore,” investigates how educational institutions contribute to the delineation and perpetuation of class divisions within urban areas. This examination provides insights into the dynamics of social stratification influenced by educational attainments in Lahore.

The defense is set to attract faculty members, M.Phil., and Ph.D. scholars interested in the sociological impacts of education on urban class structure.
